NoFit State Circus - Audition Call for Circus Performers

NoFit State Circus is looking for extraordinary, multi-talented circus performers to join our exciting outdoor project OPEN HOUSE.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: Directed by Orit Azaz (Parklife, Barricade, Streets Alive), Open House is an immersive, ever-evolving, outdoor circus installation where everything and anything can happen.

This is a unique circus theatre experience for public spaces, transforming city centres and inviting the passers by to run away with the circus for an hour, a day, a weekend. Open House combines high skill professional solo and ensemble performances with impromptu stunts, happenings, collaborations and training sessions.

ABOUT YOU: We are specifically looking for ground-based performers (tight-wire, handstand, acro, hand to hand, trampoline, object manipulation) and cradle duos. You will have a high level of skill in one or more circus disciplines; strong performing presence and warmth; genuine appetite for engaging with the public; and strong teaching abilities. You will be happy to work as part of a professional ensemble, excited by new creative approaches to site responsive work and prepared to perform outdoors, on customised structures, in a variety of contexts and conditions!

SCHEDULE: Availability for auditions on 7th and 8th of April is essential. The auditions will be held in Cardiff. 18th – 25th May: Rehearsals/Development in Cardiff 9th – 13th June: Rehearsals/Development week in Newbury 14th and 15th June: First performances in Newbury Additional performances in August and September, dates TBC.

Please send CV, video links and a short letter on why you feel you are right for the project to Deadline for application: 28th March For more information on the project and the company, please visit our website:

HeLa - The reviews keep on coming!

‘...a shocking slice of shamefully hidden history ...theatrically bold in the telling, with Onashile's heart-rending performance at its centre’

* * * * The Herald

"She embodies the woman herself with passion, integrity and sensitivity...Onashile's performance is just as compelling as the narrative she skilfully unfolds."

* * * * Broadway Baby

“...Adura Onashile gives a performance that is as spirited as it is heartbreaking...A provocative, chilling piece which cuts to the bone.”

* * * * The List

“It is an uneasy watch but an important piece of writing that throws into relief moral questions about race, poverty and the ethics of the ownership of human tissue that have been ignored for too long.”

* * * * All Edinburgh Theatre

“The fusion of video, music, monologue and physicality makes HeLa a feast for all the senses. This extraordinary, true story is treated with delicacy and astuteness...”

* * * * The Peoples Review

“...tightly told and meticulously researched, cut through with shocking statistics...

 We are left wondering what is more human: the DNA that make up our bodies or the personalities that come from our souls?”

* * * * Fest Mag

“This is a piece of theatre that not only entertains and moves, but asks essential questions about medical ethics, vulnerability and the abuse of trust.”

* * * * The Scotsman
